Samsung India is on a mega expansion spree this year. The company will almost double its brand stores from mere 110 to 200 by the end of this year.
With increasing purchasing power in the hands of Indians, companies have started focusing on high end products. After Godrej appliance announcement yesterday, Samsung is trying to get a piece of the same cake. Samsung will introduce high definition cameras and still cameras in the Indian market this year.
Mr. Zutshi MD of Samsung said,
These high end digital products will have the capability of recording high definition videos and still images, which can be then connected to high definition displays. Samsung is planning to introduce NV24 HD a 10 megapixel point and shoot digital camera capable of shooting high-def video.
Currently Samsung has a 7% market share of digital cameras in India. It plans to double its market share and is tapping all large retailers apart from increasing its own brand stores. Samsung current research efforts are focused on inter-connecting gadgets. It is also planning to launch HT X810 Home Theatre Sound Bar.
