Madura Garments the retail arm of Aditya Birla Nuvo is all set to open “Family Stores” across the country targeting the value segment. The company intends to spend Rs 400 crore on this new venture.

These family stores will open for business late Summer-2008. Mr. Vikram Rao, Director of Textiles said,
It will have apparel for all age groups. It would encompass all [brands and products] We are working on a branding exercise ahead of the launch.
The company is also weighing to launch private labels in apparels and footwear segment. Madura till now has focused only on Tier-I cities and may end up opening shops only in those cities to cater to the Value segment.
In a related development, the Aditya Birla group is planning to foray into fashion, jewelery and books & music retail chain. The company is currently on rapid expansion spree in supermarket segment competing with Reliance Fresh, Heritage @ Foods, Spsncers, Spinach etc.
