Smart and Hardworking Indians are increasingly becoming conscious about their health and hence tremendous opportunities for Health Club retailers in India.
From Talwalkars-Future group to Pink branded exclusive Gym for Women, all are running at full capacity. To encash on this boom, global health club chain, Fitness First has decided to venture into India after having delayed its plan for more than 18 months.
Mr. Vikram Bhatia, CEO of Fitness First India directly targeted the unrealistic real estate prices in India that dampened Fitness First’s opening. Fitness First plans to setup 6 health clubs across Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai in 2008. They will ramp up the count to 15 in the next 3 years by moving into Tier-I cities.
Each of these health club will be spread on a 20,000 sft area and will be located in upscale areas with high foot-falls such as Malls. It will cost the company anywhere between $2-$3 million to setup one health club with state of the art infrastructure and facility.
