BestPrice Modern Wholesale – Cash-n-Carry from Bharti WalMart

The Cash and Carry business of Bharti Walmart will function under the brand name BestPrice Modern Wholesale [quite a long name]. The first store will open for business in Punjab and registration for store membership has already began. Mr. Raj Jain, MD of Bharti Wal-Mart Retail said,

After careful market research, the Bestprice Modern Wholesale name reflects what business owners can expect from our stores – best, fixed and fair prices for a wide assortment and high quality merchandise that will help them better service their customers so that they can save money.

The store will be a one stop shop for Kirana Retailers, Hotels, caterers, fruit and vegetable resellers, traders etc. The company is expecting over 50,000 membership registrations. The store is expected to have 6,000 to 10,000 SKUs including food and non-food items available at wholesale prices just like Metro Cash-n-Carry.

Mr. Jain, MD of Bharti Wal-Mart said,

We announced the JV in August 2007 and we gave ourselves a timeframe of 18-24 months to launch our first wholesale cash-n-carry store. We are finally on track.

The goal of this venture is to to bring great value to farmers, artisans and small /big manufactureres. On the other hand to kiranas, retailers and others who will have access to better quality products. The JV is likely to open 10-15 stores as it expands.
