Aditya Birla group promoted More retail brand of supermarkets is all set to double the number of stores from its current 300 to 600 by the end of this year. Residents of Coimbatore and Warangal can now shop in More supermart as they open for business today. At the beginning of this year, Birla’s chalked out their retail strategy and entered the market with the acquisition of Trinethra supermarkets. More has presence only in south India now. Most of the new 300 stores that are likely to be opened will be in North India starting from Delhi / NCR region.
Mr. Andrew Denby, CEO Supermarkets of Aditya Birla Retail said,
So far we have rebranded almost one-third of Trinethra outlets. We would have completed atleast 50% of them by December. Each of these stores register an average of 700 footfalls every day.
The average size of More outlet is 3,500 sft and sells 3,000 to 4,000 products in categories ranging from staple foods, groceries, fruits and vegetables. More also opened a Hypermarket of 70,000 sft in Mysore and will shortly open another in Baroda.
Now this is how retailing begins. After adding more stores, the company will want to expand its margins and thus the focus will shift towards adding private labels and brand building.
