Dabur India Ltd had announced in March-2007 its foray into retailing. We have more details on the same. The company is planning to launch Health & Beauty stores [H&B] on the lines of Marico’s Kaya Skin Clinic. Dabur plans to launch 4-6 stores in Delhi / NCR region by the end of this financial year. These stores will be company owned and operated.
Mr. Peter Baker, CEO of H&B Stores, said,
We would be offering beauty related services much on the lines of what Kaya Skin Clinic presently have. There would be services such as whitening and Facials along with regular manicures and pedicures. However, these services will not be at a premium since we are a value for money brand. The purpose is to make these services affordable to consumers in smaller cities as we expand.
These stores will be like a specialty store in the area of Health, beauty and Wellness. The retail stores will also be rolling our Pharmacy services based on its Ayurvedic portfolio of products. Almost 80% of these products would be from Dabur itself.
H&B stores are expected to be in the range of 6,000 sft, 3,000 sft and 1,500 sft. The company has already invested Rs 140 crore towards this venture and hopes to break even by 2010.
