Notting Hill the brand for aam aadmi launched in 2007 proved costly for Raymonds India. The management has decided to withdraw the brand from metros and Tier-I/II cities with immediate effect.
The company had big plans for Notting Hill but were postponed and later completely changed. It will now be made available only in small towns through Raymond dealers. Mr. Deepak Khetrapal, COO said,
Raymond had a higher positioning in the consumers mind and they expected it to be at par with Raymond, which it was not. Infact, Notting Hill started cannibalizing Raymond premium product line.
Raymond Apparel contribute half of the company’s turnover while the rest comes from textiles. ParkAvenue along with ColorPlus is $100 mn brand by sales while kids range Zapp contributes around $8mn in sales.
Raymond hopes to return to profitability in the next fiscal.
