Mukesh Ambani known for his scale, be it Petroleum or Telecom has done it again. This time he plans to build the largest Hypermarket of India in Jamnagar. Reliance Retail opened its second Reliance Mart [Hypermarket] store in Jamnagar which is currently half the store size of Ahmedabad store at 83,000 sft. However, Jamnagar store will be scaled to 300,000 sft in size.
Reliance group President, mr. Nathwani said,
The hypermarket include shopping area of 83,000 sft, a multiplex, parking and food zone. The main customers will be employees of RIL and residents of Jamnagar and also those from Rajkot and Junagadh.
Only the shopping floor was opened while the other floors are still under construction. The store will carry 35,000 products in every category including food, grocery, home care products, appareals, FMCG, consumer durables, IT products, lifestyle products footwear etc. The company expects around 5,000 footfalls a day including employees from Essar Refinery. This will be the first mega-store to include Auto servicing zone like Sears in the US.
Reliance will establish the next hypermart in Surat, Gandhinagar and Rajkot. The company plans to spend Rs 33,000 to Rs 40,000 crore on the retail initiative.
