Spice Telecom, India’s worst Mobile Service Provider is now testing waters in selling low cost mobile phones in association with Indian Railways.
Spice has bagged an exclusive contract to setup retail outlets at all Indian Railway stations. Spice is copying the plans of MukeshAmbani who has stuck a deal with Mahrashtra State government to use Bus Stand real estate for Reliance Retail. Spice will sell low range handsets which will cost less than Rs 1,200 and is directly aiming at Nokia which has 70% market share in India.
Spice is the worst mobile company in India because since 2000 its subscriber base in Karnataka is limited to 600,000 while Airtel which entered Karnataka only in 2002 has subscriber base of over 3,100,000. Spice quality of Service is also the worst in Karnataka.
